As many of you may already know, WritefullyHis is participating in the Fall 2017 Girl Tribe Pop Up in Charlotte, NC at Sugar Creek Brewing. The event is on September 16, and we are so over the moon excited. Girl Tribe Pop Up is the ultimate girls day out shopping experience featuring women owned small businesses. Boom, we automatically qualified with our rockstar founder/CEO Grace Moyd.
The Girl Tribe Pop Up was founded in 2015 by entrepreneurs Carrie Barker and Sarah Baucom. They wanted to create a space for women owned businesses to come together to sell, collaborate, mingle, and most importantly flourish. We are 100% all about this idea. Being a small business can sometimes be tough. There is a lot of competition out there – big competition – that presents road blocks to success. Notice, I said road blocks because nothing can actually stand in our way. We just have to find another way around it. Because of people like Carrie and Sarah, women owned small businesses now have an extra outlet to present their products and skills outside of the traditional means, like websites, Etsy, social media, brick and mortar stores, and large overcrowded trade shows. The Girl Tribe Pop Up is going to help us find new friends and customers in Charlotte (our new home) and also collaborate with local creatives. Who knows, that might lead to another really cool WritefullyHis collab like the ones we have done in the past with Bloom Daily Planners or the Gold Bug Collection. It’s all about expanding our reach, ya know?
I originally found the Girl Tribe Pop Up when I was still part-time with Grace in Spartanburg at our brick and mortar store dashiell & daughter. I was a busy senior at Wofford and Grace was enjoying her sweet time as a newly wed here in Charlotte. That first pop up I saw was in Greenville, SC, and it didn’t seem like the best fit for us – at that very moment. As I settled into Charlotte and started my larger role with WritefullyHis, the idea came back to me, and I decided to submit an application for the Fall 2017 pop up. The Girl Tribe had only grown and gotten more popular. I was optimistic that we would be accepted to the pop up, but I also knew there were tons of companies applying for the spot. I couldn’t be sad if this just wasn’t our time. A few weeks later, I got an email that we had been chosen for the fall 2017 pop up in Charlotte! I leaped for joy, and Grace gave me the biggest hug. It was my first big ‘heck yeah, I did it’ in my new role here at WritefullyHis, and I was so so excited.
That day is a perfect example of everything I love about working with WritefullyHis. I love belonging to a small, women-run company that encourages happy dances, squeals of excitement, long coffee dates, and prayers. I am sure there are so many companies out there that are just the same – and with guys too. I guess, that’s not really the point. Whether its women or men or even our sweet office puppy Birdie, I just love belonging to a small tight-knit group that encourages me and pushes me and lets me chase my own creative ideas. Being apart of this team is so much more than work to me. It’s become apart of who I am and what I love, and that’s just really awesome.
So, if you are in the Charlotte area on September 16, and would like to swing by Sugar Creek Brewing for a brew and some shopping, we would love to see you. There will be SO many fun businesses there selling incredible products. It is going to be the best day ever – I am sure of it. You can reserve your ticket here – it’s free but you should still let us know you are coming. In the meantime, we are going to be busy here packaging away.
Have a blessed weekend, friends!
